North Georgia Zoo in Cleveland, GA, together with Live! At the Battery, Rock for Rescues, AWARE Wildlife Rescue and Ketel One Vodka, are co-hosting "Cheers for Charity- Australia", a benefit for the Australia Wildlife Fund. All proceeds from ticket sales will be going directly to the World Wildlife Fund - AUSTRALIA to aid in recovery efforts taking place in Australia.
Over the past several weeks wildfires have consumed over 40,000 square miles in Australia, including brushlands, rainforests, and national parks. By some estimates, as many as one BILLION animals have perished in the wildfires, with many more injured or homeless.
"Our mission is to Care, Connect, and Conserve in everything we do" said Hope Bennett, Founder " This opportunity to partner in a community wide event and bring our joey (baby kangaroo) to encourage people to connect with the animals in crisis in Australia is both a privilege for us and part of what we do every day." The event takes place Saturday, January 25, at Live! At the Battery from 4:00-8:00, next to Truist Park (formerly SunTrust Park).
